Over the past year and a half, as SGAC has been lead through a time of transition, a picture was painted that we have been a church that excelled in great programming but have been weak in relationships. In addition, many people have told us that they have struggled to get to know a variety of people and feel that sense of family, as the family of God.
In this transition time the congregation spoke into and created a new mission for SGAC: To Know Jesus, To Know One Another, and To Make Jesus Known.
As pastors we recognize that if we keep on doing what we’ve always done, we’ll get what we’ve always got. So, we have accepted the mandate to let go of some loved programs of the past in order to grow. This fall we are beginning a pilot project, called Growth Groups. Our goal is to have every adult that calls SGAC their home church involved in a Growth Group.
Four great reasons to join a Growth Group:
- Weekly Bible studies will help you grow in your faith. (Psalm 119:11; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- Prayer from others helps you get through tough times. (Philippians 4:6; 1 John 5:14-15)
- You’ll meet new friends. (Proverbs 27:17)
- You’ll have fun with other people going through the same things you are. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
